Davina also died, then appeared again only to be practically written out.
This show really sucks when it comes to women characters.

Man, they really did kill off/write out every. Single. Female. But let's keep - Josh. Oh! Another inconsistency: Elijah staking Klaus & Klaus falling in 5x07 vs. when Klaus remained standing, and continued to taunt Tyler after Tyler staked Klaus.

Whoops - I also meant to add: I still think they're going to kill off Freya, especially since that first born prophecy came to light.

In terms of first born- Hope's there as well, but I think Freya is likelier to turn than die entirely. They're going for a very old vibe with the first born demise/destruction of angle and the scale as usual feels bigger than TVD's buildup since more seems at stake and there's an investment in this community which credit where it's due. I care a lot about the New Orleans factions and their city, it feels like its own character whereas Mystic Falls always felt like mere backdrop 'save Dawn, it must be this day of the week' BTVS quote I can't remember right, ha ha. It's often the networks that hold less faith in female characters than showrunners and will shortchange a female series regular often- I still think season to season, the cast contracts were released between this and last but with Season Three, they clearly were having their cast budget drastically slashed and the writers had to perform triage. I think they always intended to axe Cami (Leah Pipes) but Davina was originally intended to stay as a main character but they couldn't afford to keep her.
