The Originals 5.03 Ne Me Quitte Pas
WHO IS ELIJAH MIKAELSON? — In the immediate aftermath of having his memory erased by Marcel, Elijah awakens to find himself in the middle of nowhere and without a clue as to who he is. Unable to control his instinctive vampire ways, Elijah encounters Antoinette, a beautiful and free-spirited vampire, who helps him navigate his new life. However, a run-in with Klaus threatens to destroy the peace he's finally found.
I'm looking forward to this Elijah centric episode because I want to see what happens behind the layers and how Elijah figures himself out. Also Jaime Murray is amazing to watch so I approve of this casting wholeheartedly with the new female vampire and with luck, she's got a few episodes- in particular after Rebecca Breeds as Aurora... the worst part of being an Australian in knowing when an actor is performing to their evening soap drama best and recognizing the acting style. We have great exports on The Originals and in US film and television at large and then we have the soap stars who will only ever be able to act at that level.

I am actually looking forward to this one. I think they learned their lesson from TVD and that's why they decided to devote a full episode to Elijah. I'm really hoping that Antoinette isn't shady. I'm hoping that she survives. I'm hoping that Elijah fights for her once he has his memories back. I hope he gets some happiness outside of his family.
Yeah, big surprise: I'm already Team Antoinette and haven't even met her.
I think this will be kind of a slow episode - some might call it filler, but I think it's necessary. I'm sure some will complain that the rest of the cast isn't shown in this episode (except for Klaus), but I'm looking forward to seeing Elijah away from his family. Away from NOLA and his responsibilities. And yes: away from Hayley. Just looking forward to seeing who he is without those constraints.

I loved Elijah centric episode of s2 when they introduced the REd DOOR but I was so disappointed how it was executed throughout the show. This show writers are not really good in following up. I dont have much hope for whatever will come out of this Elijah centric episode based on previous experiences.

With both of you. I'm looking forward to it and hope Antoinette is on the up and up, but also not too hopeful given how Elijah's been treated in the past.

This season I've come to expect the worst with every episode and I've been pleasantly surprised. I don't think I'll stop thinking this way though.

I love Antoinette! She is amazing, and I adore her so much. She stands on her own as a character and it was always my issue with Gia- her actress was uninspiring and her character was one note compared to the complexity of this new character. The no daylight rule was inspired and you can respect why she chose differently than other vampires did. I love Elijah and as much as I love him as Elijah Mikaelson- the only way he or we were ever going to see him for what he was apart from his family was not holding himself to his promises. Elijah experiencing life and living for himself- I would be more than happy for him and if Hayley were to survive to be with people that let them be the happiest versions of themselves than mired by obligations and past heartaches which is what they were. They needed this episode for Elijah. They really did and Marcel came off as concerned, caring- remembering in the 'protecting Hope' world, he is a part of what Elijah had to forget forever. Klaus was fairly selfish here- yes Elijah is both parts- the freed version and the family man but it was completely dangerous as hell for Klaus to pull this. The Hollow if taken back into Hope would want Hayley dead- it didn't help any search for her. It was sad- because whatever else, Elijah and Hayley are connected and it will be a wound on Elijah- whoever he ended up with not to have been able to know or care that his family were in danger... Klaus did have a point. Without the feelings behind history- you can't make an informed decision.
But this is the closest I've seen to human Elijah. The man with Tatia Petrova, that sense of wholeness with who and what he is. I would love to see him reconciled with himself, his family and still end up with Antoinette or embracing his new path in life. To allow himself that happiness as Elijah Mikaelson.
Joseph Morgan did a great job unlike the actor directed episodes of TVD that were rather uninspiring.

So good I watched it twice, just for the magnificence that is Daniel Gillies with competent writing.
I read somewhere that this episode would give us a look at what parts of Elijah are genuinely him and which are the persona "Elijah". He's still pretty tidy but I loved seeing him in more relaxed, normal clothing. And Antoinette is fantastic.

The Originals 5.04 "Ne Me Quitte Pas" maintained last week's 0.4/2 in 18-49 viewers and only wavered in total viewers 0.90, but another good inning for an episode that was single character centric.
