The Originals- 4.12 Voodoo Child
THE BOOK OF THE HOLLOW – When The Hollow targets the most vulnerable Mikaelson, Klaus is forced to rely on Vincent, who believes he can use The Hollow's own dark magic to defeat their enemy for good. Meanwhile, as Marcel worries that Vincent’s plan might backfire, the King of New Orleans decides on a deadly backup plan of his own. Elsewhere, after falling victim to The Hollow's manipulations, Hayley struggles to figure out Hope's future in New Orleans, while Freya must confront her darkest fear.
The safest place- although one would wonder what the Hollow's playing at (wouldn't it be easier just to lay low) unless this is part of them protecting themselves from an unplanned series finale which is now happily redundant.

I'm inclined to think this season's finale was written as a series finale. We only just got word of season 5, but they've been done filming this season for a while now.
Didn't the Hollow say she wants to be immortal (or invincible)? I think she's aiming to take over Hope's body (and thus her power).

Yep, knew she was taking over Hope for her power. Promo for the next ep seems to confirm that they did actually write the finale as a series finale.
I wish they'd let the Marcel/Bex thing go. And I'm positively gleeful that Hayley/Elijah seems to be done. I'm actually on Hayley's side this time re: raising Hope in an environment that shrugs its shoulders at violence.

And I'm positively gleeful that Hayley/Elijah seems to be done. If - and that's a big if - Haylijah truly are done, then two things: 1. I don't want a whiff of Klayley. If she can't be with Elijah because he's abusive, then she absolutely cannot be with Klaus either. But this is a show created by a woman who took Elena from Stefan and put her with Damon (abusive, manipulative), so... 2. I hope one of the final scenes in S4 is Elijah leaving. I hope he doesn't stick around to "be her friend" or help her when things get tough. And I hope she's appropriately stunned/shocked when he really does walk out. Maybe Elijah stays in MF so at least one of them is close to Hope in case there's trouble. I do find it odd that they're just leaving Hope in MF and trusting whatever protections the school has. Sigh...what did she actually freaking expect? I mean, seriously. She's got to find a way to reconcile being a part of this family, which everyone seems to have wanted, and accepting that this is who-they-are. I get it, I do, and I agree, but - smh. What did she honestly expect? That she could fix it? Fix them? SMH.

Preview for the finale strongly suggests all four Originals will be made to stay away from each other for an indefinite period of time, and that likely means that Hayley and Hope will be separated from Elijah. I don't know why anyone would think Mystic Falls is safe, though.
I think Hayley just didn't realize the depth of Elijah's depravity - he hid it for a long time under a facade of nobility and tailored suits. Once she was in his head and saw the truth, she started to re-think. It's the idealization she and he both have of each other, instead of seeing themselves/each other as they really are.
