Copying the content of one of the threads on TVD board. I was going ot link it first but then realized that in a few days that board will go offline and we will lose the content so here it goes. There is a spoiler (Unconfirmed)that states that they (I think Damon/Bonnie or maybe Stefan) goes back in the past to kill Cade. The trip to the past changes everything. We also get to see their future someone claim that Caroline runs the Salvatore Boarding School with Elena's little brother Jeremy. I do not know if the spoilers are legit, but I do recall Sybil, and Seline go looking for Damon back in time. Source:

My first thought is, "That's the damn stupidest thing I've ever read and obviously not true." My second thought is, "Yeah, but the truly damn stupidest thing you've ever read was 'magical womb swap' and that turned out to be true, so..."  I don't know if it's true or not. If it is, I'll say that going back into the past is such a cop-out. I don't think it'll impact TO because JP is still hoping for an S5. |

I know what you mean but I still hope that they dont go bonkers on TO. So far their stories and actions are explainable. I mean look at TVD, that pregnancy bit and then this cure mess. So far the only thing we have problem with on TO is unconvincing romantic relationship but other than that I dont recall any messy or strange plot lines/ actions. I meant the event that have happened so far... |

Logically, a lot of what happened with clan Mikaelson in TVD (and consequently, the events leading up to the start of TO) could still have happened even if we get a time-travel rewrite. Things that happened in previous seasons aren't dependant on Cade. To change things drastically enough that the Mikaelsons are affected, you'd likely have to prevent Damon and Stefan from ever returning to Mystic Falls. That keeps Rose and her brother from finding out about Elena, which brought Elijah and Klaus into the picture, kicking off the whole thing.

In the books, there was a 'bring the dead back to life' and fresh slate moment- but it did not affect Klaus (bringing him back to life). I lost track of the books but it seemed to be centered on their town than of a pure time reversal. It was more a magical second chance for a few people... but to be fair, they've had a lot of rumours and I doubt there would be a time reversal or 'it was all dreamed up by Elena'.
