I have some random thoughts I'd like to vent/share with you today...
1. Klaus is not a puzzle wrapped in an enigma.
I'm so tired of the "Cami knows him best" and "Caroline knows him better than anyone" argument. People acting like Klaus is an enigma - he's not. He hasn't been mysterious since TVD S2. The man wears his heart on his sleeve; he's always cared too much. Anyone - anyone - including Hayley! - know's what Klaus' deal is within 10 minutes of meeitng him. Cami did not have to be a pyschologist to figure him out. In fact, that's one of the reasons I dislike the character - get the **** outta here with your armchair pyscho-analyzing bs that anyone can spout off if they've ever taken PYSC101.
His family - including Esther and Mikael - know him best. Period. His family has been telling him the same thing for the past 1,000 years - he chose not to listen to them. Not to beleive them. He started to listen with Caroline. Then Hayley. Then Cami.
But can we just please stop acting as if he's some sort of enigma with too many layers?!?!
2. Klaus is responsible for his own damn decisions.
Despite his family's assurances. Despite his "I'll carry you with me always" to Cami. Despite Caroline always being in the back of his mind. Despite Hayley's assurances. He still abandoned his daughter. He let his own issues and his own fear get in the way of what he wants most - to be a good father. It literally makes no sense that he stopped calling/video calling with Hope. The story still could have worked without turning him into a deadbeat/absent father.
3. Fanservice
IMO, fanservice is when you bring anyone back from the dead. Whether it's a dream, hallucination, memory, or "the veil is down and I'm alive for the next 24 hours" - it's fan service. I don't care how established the character is. When you bring someone back from the dead, it's fanservice. When you show dead characters in the afterlife smiling fondly after their loved ones - it's fanservice.
I will be the first to admit that I never thought Caroline could convincingly cross-over to TO. I was wrong. I never expected her to open a school for supernatural children. It works. It's not perfect, but it works. She has history with Klaus and Rebekah. She knows Hope. She's no longer the baby barbie vampire - she's a mature woman, with plenty of responsibilities. Her re-appearance in Klaus' life isn't JUST fanservice.
But yes: Cami returning (as a dream, memory, flashback, hallucination, whatever) is fanservice, even though she was a more established character. She's dead. The only reason they're bringing her back is because they want to give her fans a token.
4. Give me a supernatural show where dead is dead.
I am so tired of Klaus' man-pain because of Mikael. I am so tired of the hostility Mikael has for Klaus. I am so tired of the angst and drama between the two. JFC - get over it! Seriously! I cannot take another scene between the two of them filled with taunting and tears. I can't. I am praying that Mikael's appearence has to do with Freya.
Okay, I think that's it. For now.
